Hey guys, just thought I’d share some recommendations. WARNING THERE MAY BE SPOILERS!
Simon Vs. The Homo Sapiens Agenda / Leah on The Offbeat- Becky Albertalli
THIS BOOOOOOK! I heart it with all my heart and you alllll know why! There are the obvious reps in here, but there is also a good POC rep with the characters of Bram and Abby.
They Both Die At The End – Adam Silvera
This book will mess you up and smile while doing it. It has a great Lantinx rep (but so does all of Adam’s books) and a bisexual main character (Rufus). I didn’t catch it when I first read it, but it is said in Rufus’ profile that his sexuality is BI. #Themoreyouknow
A List of Cages – Robin Roe
This is an underrated but great book! This book deals with A LOT OF TOPICS but one of them is ADHD and as a person with ADHD, I felt like Robin Roe did a great job representing her character. Not only that but it deals with abuse and a variety of other topics and I loved it so much.
The Sun is Also A Star – Nicola Yoon
This has an amazing POC rep (African American and Asian) and it features an interracial couple. The story is cute and I cannot wait for the movie to come out soon.
The Handsome Girl and Her Beautiful Boy -B.T. Gottfred
THIS. BOOK. IS. AMAZING.
It deals with the topic of sexuality as the main character Art tries to decide whether he is gay, straight, etc. The second main character Zee is trying to decide if she is a lesbian, straight, etc. When they begin dating, they start realizing it may not be so simple.
Eliza and Her Monsters -Francesca Zappia
This book has a great anxiety rep and it is super cute! I don’t wanna say too much more, but I will say that it took me about a day to read.
Dear Martin -Nic Stone
POC rep and it deals with important topics like police brutality and the danger that follows being a black man in the USA.
Under Rose Tainted Skies -Louise Gornall
This is another book with an amazing mental disorder rep: OCD and agoraphobia. I’d done some research on it and it seems to fit what I have seen and heard of them. That and the author herself has OCD and agoraphobia.
We Are The Ants -Shawn David Hutchinson
This book is not only magical realism, it has a gay main character that me and my friend Kat love. I don’t know exactly how to describe this book, so just read it, okay?
Everyday -David Levithan
This book is so underrated (even though it did get a movie) and I felt like it was a… I guess why of telling the story of what being Pansexual is like. No matter what body or gender the main character was in, they were still in love with the same girl. https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/13262783-every-day?ac=1&from_search=true
